POEA Warns Nurses, Caregivers vs Private Recruiters for Japan Jobs

The Philippine Overseas Employment Administration (POEA) has issued a warning to Filipino nurses and caregivers looking for jobs in Japan not to engage with private recruitment agencies.

POEA administrator Hans Leo Cacdac said in a statement on Friday that private job placement companies are not allowed to deploy workers in the said sector to Japan.

“Recruitment of nurses or caregivers for Japan can only be done through government to government hiring through the POEA and Japan International Corporation of Welfare Services,” the statement read.

Instead of dealing with private agencies, Cacdac encourages interested applicants to submit application forms directly to POEA. He also added that if an applicant is shortlisted and offered the job, a training for Japanese language will also be offered for free.

The statement was issued in response to online posts about unscrupulous recruiters targeting applicants for nursing and caregiving jobs in Japan. Such posts include applicants required to pay P36,500 to P64,500 for their Japanese language training, which is a requirement for foreign workers deployed to Japan.
