A Pakistani man was charged in a Dubai court after he was arrested for snatching away a mobile phone owned by a Filipina.
Dubai Criminal Court heard that at 6:30am on December 28, RK, a 38-year-old Filipino teacher was taking the metro to go to work. When she reached Abu Bakr Al Siddiq Street, MY, 25, a Pakistani national held her shoulder and snatched the mobile phone she was holding and pushed her.
“As I fell, I started shouting and screaming while the attacker was running away. All of a sudden he turned back and hit me with his hands in which he was holding my mobile,” said the Filipina.
“I got scared and stayed on the floor for a while, seeing him walking away slowly.. Then I decided and started walking after him. When I saw some people, I asked them for help. They ran after him and caught him,” she added.
When RK approached MY and asked her phone back, he threw it in the garbage bin. Police arrived ten minutes later and arrested MY.
The court will hand its verdict on the case on March 16.
