A Filipina worker in Kuwait who was shown badly hurt in a photo after allegedly falling off an apartment building in Kuwait has been confined in intensive care unit after an apparent abuse from her employer.
Domestic worker Melrose Balagosa, 25, was reportedly pushed by her Egyptian employer outside a fourth floor window while she was cleaning. It wasn’t clear who took the photo showing Balagosa’s obvious pain. Facebook user B.B. Bacutoc shared the photo.
Balagosa, whose family is based in San Enrique, Iloilo, started to work as domestic worker in October 2014 to support her family and two children. Her family learned about the incident on Wednesday and believe she might be pushed and not figured in an accident as reports indicate.
The Vice Consul Philippine Embassy in Kuwait is reportedly now helping the victim and investigating the incident.
A Facebook page “Justice for Melirose ‘Mel’ Balagosa” was also created to seek justice for the victim.
A concerned OFW, who claims she has visited Balagosa at the hospital and managed to speak with her, said the victim is recovering and asked everyone for prayers. She also thanked the manpower agency and the Philippine Embassy for their assistance in the case.
