A Filipino administrator in Dubai has been accused of breaching the privacy of his Filipina flatmate when he secretly filmed her in state of undress, a Dubai court heard on Monday, a report by Khaleej Times said.
The incident happened in November while both of them shared an apartment.
The woman only learned when another Filipino told her about the video.
“I didn’t believe him until he showed me the video forwarded to him on WhatsApp by the defendant. He filmed me as I was changing my clothes to get ready for work,” the victim, 24, said of being filmed secretly by the suspect, 38.
“He sneaked the phone underneath the partition and filmed me,” she said. “I don’t know why he did it as we weren’t on bad terms,” said the complainant, whose room was only divided by a wooden partition from the suspect’s.
After being told of the secret video, the complainant filed a case on May 28 at the Jebel Ali Police Station.
Prosecutors charged the defendant with molestation and breaching the woman’s modesty and privacy. He pleaded guilty and apologised when he stood trial at the Dubai Court of Instance.
