A Filipina worker based in Saudi Arabia is confined at the intensive care unit in a hospital after she was allegedly forced to drink bleach by her employer.
Agnes Mancilla, a 35-year-old household service worker, has been admitted to the King Fahad Central Hospital in Jizan, Saudi Arabia after the incident.
Fellow workers rushed Mancilla to the hospital after she was found unconscious on April 2. She later underwent laparotomy to remove traces of bleach from her liver.
In a statement, the Department of Foreign Affairs said the Philippine Consul General to Jeddah Edgar Badajos is now monitoring the condition of Mancilla.
“We would like to assure our kababayans that we are working closely with authorities in Jizan to make sure that justice will be given to Agnes Mancilla,” sabi ni Badajos said on Monday, April 16.
The DFA also assured that they are in talks with authorities in Saudi regarding Mancilla’s case.
The OFW’s female employer is now with authorities.
“The Consulate will regularly send representatives to Jizan to follow up her case with the police and to look into her condition,” ani Badajos.
