A 36-year-old Filipino domestic worker was arrested by police authorities in Macau Friday night after she reportedly filed a fake robbery report after she lost money gambling at a casino.
The helper clamimed that she was mugged by three men on a Macau street on April 28 and that the men took away MOP 10,500 from her, a report from Journal Do Cidado said.
Based on her conflicting declarations, police became suspicious the woman had fabricated the crime.
The Filipina later admitted she made up the story as she was supposed to transfer the money to her family in the Philippines, but she lost it gambling at the casino.She later told police she was afraid of being admonished by her family and decided to report the bogus crime to explain the inability to send money home.
She was arrested for suspected crime simulation, local newspaper Tai Chung Pou reported.
