An overseas Filipino worker has been sent home in the Philippines and was admitted to a mental hospital after reportedly suffering intense trauma in hands of her employer in Kuwait.

“She can be categorized as a distressed worker, so may nangyari talagang pang-aabuso sa kanyang karapatan” administrator Hans Leo Cacdac of the Overseas Workers Welfare Administration as saying.

Cacdac added that the Filipina’s case would be endorsed to the Philippine Overseas Employment Administration and the Department of Foreign Affairs for possible filing of case against her employer in Kuwait.

A video circulating on social media showed the visibly traumatized Filipina unable to talk properly with her fellow passengers on her flight home.

The Filipina was escorted home by Overseas Workers Welfare Administration officers led by Hans Leo Cacdac, along with her mother and sister from the National Mental Health Hospital in Mandaluyong City to the Ninoy Aquino International Airport Terminal 3 for their flight to their hometown in General Santos City.

Given the delicate situation of the OFW, OWWA chose not to disclose her actual condition.

However, despite her frailty, the OFW appears to be in a stable condition and will be checked by a doctor upon arrival in General Santos City on top of receiving disability and medical assistance from OWWA.

He assured continued assistance to the OFW until she is fully recovered.
