A Filipino seafarer plunged to his death while performing maintenance work on a vessel.
Magtahas Anecito Bahian, 44, died instantly after he fell 13 meters on the deck of MV Necklace. Malaysia’s Fire and Rescue Department spokesman said they received a distress call and dispatched a team to the scene.
However, the Filipino was already declared dead by medical personnel on board of the ship, which was anchored eight nautical miles northeast of Malaysia’s Pangkor Island.
The ship reportedly arrived from Singapore.
“From the incident, the victim suffered severe spinal fracture and internal bleeding in the brain,” said Manjung OCPD Asst Comm Tengku Mohd Zailan Tengku Ahmad.
