Filipino domestic helpers who were lured into investing at a fraudulent scheme are set to file their formal complaints.
According to the Philippine Consulate General in Hong Kong’s Assistance to Nationals section, more than 10 Filipinos met them on January 31 to discuss their complaint against Emgoldex, which was involved in gold trading.
It was learned that the victims were made to invest at least P10,000 in the get-rich-quick scheme offered by the company’s representatives.
Attaché Hermogenes Cayabyab Jr. said he advised the complainants to prepare their documents to make their complaint formal. The complaints are scheduled to be filed within the month.
Philippine Consulate General has also been urging other Filipinos who fell prey to the same company to come forward and file their case.
