Three airport security personnel assigned at Ninoy Aquino International Airport (NAIA) were identified as prime suspects in the disappearance of an overseas Filipino worker’s bag as it was left unattended at the X-ray machine.

Elenita Casim, 39, a household service worker from Kuwait, found it unacceptable that Office of Transport Security (OTS) staff themselves took away her bag.

Casim just arrived at NAIA from an international flight and purposely returned inside the terminal to consult with OWWA personnel about the plight of a fellow OFW maltreated in Kuwait. As a standard procedure, she placed her bag into the security screening machine.

However, she accidentally left at the X-ray machine her backpack which contained cash and important documents.

A review of the surveillance camera showed a female security staff pick up Casim’s bag and placed it on top of the X-ray machine. Moments later, another staff took away the bag.

Armed with clear evidence of theft, three OTS personnel were charged. Glavin Cano, Analiza Monda and Julius Flores were charged with qualified theft.

“Ang ganda sana nila, naka uniform pa,” quipped a visibly upset Casim in an interview with ABS-CBN News, referring her disbelief that a respectably dressed staff could manage to steal someone else’s property.

Miguel Oraa, spokesperson of the Office of Transport Security declined to comment on the case.

“We are on top of this.. but this time it could be too early [to release a statement on the matter],” Oraa said.

“Gusto ko po matanggal sila,” retorted Casim, “para mabigyan sila ng leksyon.”
